Spokane, WA -5-Mile Prarie Ward- Week #104

BEST WAY to spend your last week on a mission!!!! With a baptism. 💓 Logan met sweet little Emily Huck in his VERY first area at the YSA! And now was able to end his mission with Emily as he baptized her his last weekend in the field!! Warms my heart. Love his smile! Pictured here with Emily's best friend MaKayla, her mom Julie, her dad Ken and little sister Katherine STOKER! (Janine Stoker's brother) What a small wonderful world we live in!

I honestly can't believe that this is really happening... I have only seen people come home from their Missions.. I never knew it would ever happen to me!! As of right now I am buckled down ready to take on another transfer, or multiple transfers at that!! Its just so surreal to me to know that this is my last 2 days as a full time Missionary!! I honestly can't believe it! I can tell you all about the week when I see you all on Wednesday!! Highlights from the week though EMILY GOT BAPTIZED!!!! Holy cow it was an awesome service!! What a blessing it was!! What made it cooler was that she asked me to be the one to baptize her!! I was so honored to do that and to be there for it!! Crazy thing was I met her in Pullman at the beginning of my Mission and I got to be the one to baptize her at the end of my Mission! God is amazing and I love the fact he gives us a lot of tender mercies!! It was so awesome!! Well since this is the last email I will be sending from Spokane, Washington I just wanted to leave my testimony.. This has honestly been the greatest experience I have ever done in my life... I know for a fact that this wasn't the easiest thing on the planet its actually been probably the hardest thing I've done... I know that I would not be anywhere near the man I am today without this Mission in my life!! Spokane has truly grown on me!! I love the people here and it is honestly like I am leaving another family up here! Luckily its close enough for me to drive up! WHAT A BLESSING!! I know that Missions are hard but it is the most beneficial thing I have ever done in my life!! I have come to learn out here where my testimony is, what I truly believe, and what my relationship is like with my Father in Heaven. I am so grateful for the things I have learned, and for the blessings and Miracles I have seen here in Spokane, Washington! I know without a shadow of a doubt that Joseph Smith was called to be the prophet to restore the true church of God back on the Earth, I know that Russell M. Nelson is Gods chosen servant and Prophet in this day and age and the world today, I know that God is real and that he truly does direct this work and he does know every single one of us and know us personally! I know he loves us and I know he knows me, I know that The Book of Mormon is true and it is the Word of God!! Joseph Smith once said that he told the Brethren that The Book of Mormon is the most correct book on the Earth today, I know that is a bold claim but I can say with everything in me that it is true! We just can't judge the book by its cover LITERALLY!!! Give it a try read the dang thing and ask the big man if its true! I have done that multiple times and I have gotten the same answer everytime!! I know God answers prayers and he truly does change lives! The Gospel changes lives I have seen it with my own eyes and with people I have served. This Gospel means everything to me and I can't go back to what I was doing before! Thanks for all the support you have all given me these past 2 years! This has not been the best 2 years of my life by any means, its been the best 2 years for my life and exactly what I needed to become better!! Remember to turn to the Lord with Full purpose of heart and serve him with all diligence of mind, if ye do this he will according to his own will and pleasure deliver you out of bondage.. (Mosiah 7:33) That is my favorite scripture and I know he doesn't ask a lot from us! The Gospel is true, the church is true and I know it with everything in me!! I love you all so much thanks again for the support!! I am so lucky for this opportunity! I will forever be changed because of it! I am excited to see all of you in 2 days! Its for sure a bitter sweet moment for me! I love you all so much!! Remember the church is true! The book is blue! Jesus Loves you!  ALWAYS pet the Dog, Agnositcs wear grey on grey, Jesus is my friend, remember who you are and what you stand for, God is a God of Miracles, Love your neighbor, Treat others how you would like to be treated, Don't talk to strangers.. but make new friends, Expect Miracles in your life! I love you all!! Peace see you in 2 DAYS!!!!! LOVE YOUUUUUUU!!!
Love,
Elder Logan Scott :)

Spokane, WA -5-Mile Prarie Ward- Week #103

This message was probably sent to Logan quite often!

Holy Crap!! Is this real life!?!?!? I have a week left on my freaking Mission!!!! I seriously can't wrap my head around that one people!!! I have seen so many people go home and I honestly thought I would never go home!! Obviously that is wrong and you will be home before you know it!! ðŸ˜‚ Man its my Last Week as a Missionary... Lots and lots of thoughts have been going through my head lately... I got another week to think about that though! ðŸ˜‚ I still have to make this last little bit count!! I am excited for the next chapter in my life though I can tell you that!! ðŸ˜‚ Anyways this week was more than amazing!! We saw a lot of miracles and the hand of God in our proselyting efforts!! Crazy story though as I begin this email! The day was Thursday and we just got done with our Coordination meeting with our Ward Mission Leader, and Ward Missionaries. After Coordination we go on splits with either Brother Frank (Our Ward Mission Leader) or our Ward Missionaries (Brothers Strom and Peffer). Elder Heaton goes with Bro Frank to Joe and Katies (A couple we are teaching) and Bro Peffer and I go to Mark and JoAnne's (Another couple we are teaching). The lesson falls through of course because they are pretty flakey, so we decide to go and try and see some Less Active Members! We see some older lady in the ward that is on Bro Peffers ministering route and that was pretty nice, then we drive up the road a little more and I see a name of this lady that I have never seen before. I ask Bro Peffer if he is down to go see her and he of course says yes. As we are walking over he asks me if I have ever met these people before and I respond with "Nope I have not!" He laughs and tells me that he is going to follow my lead then. We get to the door and we knock a man answers, and I say Hello and ask if a Lucinda lives there. He completely overlooks my question and gets in my face and asks me (in more of a yelling tone) if Jesus or God called me to be a Missionary. I respond with yes I have been called by God to be a Missionary. He then asks when, then I respond with when God called a Prophet on the Earth again. Then he yells "BULL CRAP!!!" (Obviously he had a more colorful language than that). Then he just goes off on how much he hates me, how much he hates Missionaries, how much he hates the church, etc. He is yelling, cussing, calling us names, the whole 9 yards I'm telling you!! ðŸ˜‚ After he feels that he has sufficiently yelled and brought me down enough he starts going at Brother Peffer! Mind you we haven't said a word since I told him God called a prophet on the Earth again. He's just going at us and creating this scene in the middle of the neighborhood! The more he talked the more angry he got with us! He told us multiple times that he was going to beat the crap out of us and literally throw us off his property... We kept trying to leave but he kept yelling at us. We were in the process of leaving and this man is still yelling and telling us to get off his property, Etc. He also tells us to make sure to tell our people to stop sending people over to his house, I got pretty smart with him and asked if he wanted it to say anything specific... Oh boy did that make him more mad!! I now realize that was probably not the smartest thing to do.. especially as a representative of Jesus Christ but I am still human and I still have my faults. I am not too worried about it though we made it out alive! We left and all we could do is laugh about that situation! He was probably the most angry man I have ever talked to on my Mission! Note to self don't go back to his house! Funny thing was I saw him at Walmart today, and I think he still had some bitter feelings with us at his house... I can honestly say that was not what I was expecting to happen when we went to his house! It made for a really funny story and a good thing to write in the journal though!! ðŸ˜‚ I thought it was good! Anyways that was my crazy story for the week! Other than that not a whole lot happened. Lots of people were busy with doing 4th of July festivities, so we didn't get to meet with a lot of our Investigators... We were trying to get out and find new people to teach though! #Outheregrindin We have made so much progression with Joe and Katie though! After almost 9 Months of being in this area they have finally told us that this is something they want to do! YAY!! We have been having a lot of good Gospel conversations and lots of questions that have been bugging them and we have been the only ones that could answer them! Joe finished the Book of Mormon this week! YAY!! We are about to have a long talk about it next time we see them!! They are progressing a lot faster than they have in times of past, they are most definitely on the rise!! What I learn from this is that We should never give up on people! I found these people like week 5 of my first transfer here.. That was back in September of 2017 and now here in July of 2018 they are finally ready to take the next step! God is softening the hearts of many and he is preparing people for us to teach!! It might not happen on our time table but God knows everything and he is very mindful of all of our situations and what is going on in our lives!! We didn't give up on Joe and Katie and they truly believe that was a sign that God did not forget about them! You never know what is going on in peoples heads and what they are thinking!! Listen to the spirit and do what you know to be right!! Lots of lessons like this have been learned throughout my entire Mission! I could not have learned these anywhere else!! I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve my Father in Heaven for this short time! I have loved my Mission and I still have one more week to make a difference here in Spokane, Washington!! I love you all so much and the last thing that I wanted to say is that when I get home (On Wednesday the 18th) we are planning having people come to my house instead of the airport or something! My Mom has kindly said that they would have me home by 3:30 that day! I would love to see a lot if not all of you on this group email there!! My address is:
561 W. 2400 S.
Syracuse, Ut
Thats all I got for this week though!! More miracles I am sure to come this final week of my service!! I love you all and remember the church is freaking true, the book is freaking blue dangit, Don't be Dumb, July is literally over, ALWAYS pet the dog, There are a lot of angry people in the world, people can always change if they have time! The Gospel means so much to me I hope you all know that!! For all of you at home.. I will see you all next week!! LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUU!!!!
Love,
Elder Logan Scott :)

Spokane, WA -5-Mile Prarie Ward- Week #102

Ok can you all believe first off that the 4th of July is on Wednesday!?!?!? I freaking love that holiday!! I'm ok with it, its so much fun on a Mission!! Second its already July!!! I seriously cannot believe it!!! I never thought that I would make it back to this month!! ðŸ˜‚ July 2018 has always been a thing in the distance for me... but now its here!! I come home this month!! Woot Woot!!! I can't wait to see you all in 2 weeks!! Its going to be so much fun!! ðŸ˜‚ Anyways this week was so so awesome!! So much better than last week I can tell you that!! At the same time I can't remember what happened this week! ðŸ˜‚ Funny how that works huh?? I just know everyone is coming home!! Well this week went something like this! I had a couple of Zoom Meetings which I think are pretty cool!! Zoom is an app that you can have some meetings over the phone via Video!! It was so cool!! First President Dymock wanted to have a Meeting with all the District Leaders in the Mission!! So we all Zoomed in from all over the Mission, and had this meeting with President and the Assistants!! It was honestly so cool!! Then we had another meeting with everyone in my group who is going home at the end of this transfer, with President Dymock and it was all basically a combined Exit Interview!! He at least wanted to do something with us so he went over the Exit Interview with us! I got to see all of my friends that are in my group that are all around the Mission and it was the coolest thing ever!! The blessings of modern technology in our Mission! WHAT A BLESSING!!!!! ðŸ˜‚ On Saturday our great Mission President (President Dymock if you forgot who I was talking about already... ðŸ˜‚) he went home... Even though that was a sad departure for all of us (Well for those who are here longer for 2 weeks... ðŸ˜‚) that man changed my life.. I know I was sent to this Mission so I could be influenced by him and Sister Dymock! I was pretty sad but then I know that we got our new Mission President that same day and I know he was truly sent to this Mission for a reason, He was called by God to serve the people here and to help influence all of us! I know just like anything else in the church (A new prophet, Stake President, Bishop, or even Young Mens Quorum Presidents) they will not skip a beat and he will be led by the spirit and will truly help us in this whole Mission thing! I am so excited to serve around them for the rest of my Mission!! His name is President Thompson and they are actually from Layton, Ut!! Woot woot represent Davis county boi!! ðŸ˜‚ I am so excited to meet him on Wednesday! Its gonna be good! So updates now they updated Preach My Gospel!! CRAZY RIGHT!?!? They change the way we teach the Plan of Salvation to people and they have added somethings that we teach people... Don't worry they didn't change the doctrine! They just have us go more into detail with things now!! Compare the old PMG to the new one on the Gospel Library app! It will blow you away!! ðŸ˜‚ I love it though because they have us be more bold with people and it really sets the expectation for people! I think its awesome and its a bold move!! The Church is so true!!! Oh and another thing that they changed we no longer call people we are teaching Investigators, we now refer to them as "People we are teaching" not a big change to other people, but to Missionaries its a big change!! They don't use it anywhere now!! I think its hilarious!! Well a new update on the ward here, we found a family of 7!!! WHAT A BLESSING!!!!!! They are so solid!! They are the Stanley Family!! Rani (The Mother) grew up in a foster home with a Mormon family and grew up going to church!! Its so awesome!! They have taken it so seriously and they are so solid!! The Lord has truly prepared them for this time!! More updates to come on the later! The way we explain them as a companionship is that we think its just too good to be true! We have faith its going somewhere! Pray for them and for us! We need it!! Our other Investigator Jamie is doing awesome!! She is progressing really well!! I really am not mad that we are teaching 2 Families!! This work makes me so so happy!! It hasn't been a cake walk thats for sure its also been like the hardest thing I have ever done in my life!! At the end of the day it has been the greatest thing I have ever done!! I love this and the time I have spent out here!! I will forever thank my Father in Heaven for the time I have had to serve him for this short time!! Its coming to an end really quickly! I love my Father in Heaven so much and I know Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World, and that Joseph Smith was truly called to be a prophet and to restore the true church of Christ on the Earth again! I know it all to be true with everything in me!! Well thats all I got for this week!! I hope you all have an awesome week and your 4th of July/Independence Day is awesome!! Happy Birthday Murica!!! I love you all so much I'll talk to you all next week!! Remember that the Church is TRUE, the Book is what?? Oh yes it is still Blue! The work will still move forth with the grace of God, Life is and always will be about making BUCKETS! Ball is life, and Happy Birthday Amurica! Love you all so much!! Talk to you next week! LOVE YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
Love,
Elder Logan Scott :)

Letter of advice sent to Priest Quorum High Adventure

Copy of the letter Logan sent to the Priest Quorum with words of advice on missionary work...

Hey what's up Hello bretheren!!

It's been a quick minute there since I've seen a few of you!  Some of you that were just little teachers when I was home are now Priests sitting here listening to my letter!  Which is pretty weird for me to think about! I hope you are all nice and cozy by the fire cause this one is a good one!  Well since my letter last year never made it to this campfire you all missed out on some great wisdom, hopefully I can pull some wisdom from the sky this year.  It's also weird for me to think that a lot of you that I have always thought and saw as little kids (namely by brothers) are all going on missions!!That's insane for me to think about!  You all can't be going on missions yet!  Well I am coming home from mine in a few months so I guess that's believable! Haha, anyways I have a lot on my mind right now and it's going a million different ways so I will get started.  What I wanted to start out with was that missions are AWESOME!!  Plain and simple they are so good!  You learn so much!  I am convinced that you learn so much more on a mission than at college!  That's just the gospel of Logan, it's not doctrine! hahaha Some of the big lessons I have learned is that pretty much my whole life I have taken the gospel for granted.  For example the sacrament I remember last year we were teaching this guy his name Steve.  Steve came to church one Sunday and as soon as he got the bread and the water he started bawling!  You know I thought it was a little strange at first but I asked him if he was alright.  He then responded "Being made clean every week is just the greatest blessing I can ever have, and most of the time I don't think I am worthy for it...but Christ did it for me anyways."  That has stuck with me for the rest of my mission and hopefully my life!  I know before that the sacrament was clockwork for me.  I know I eat the bread and take the water and you have the occasional thought of Christ every once in a while, but having the thought that through the Savior it really does cleanse us!  EVERY WEEK!! What a blessing, right??  I'm not saying that's what we all do you are all probably better than I am!  I have a greater love for the sacrament now and I know the importance of it!  It gives me something to look forward to every week!  The next thing is missions really do change lives!  I was talking to a recent convert in the ward I am serving in and we asked her in a lesson how the gospel has changed her life, she bore a very sincere testimony of the Gospel, then she talked about how our missions really changed her life, because without us she would not have gotten to this point!  It was so nice to know that!  To also see how much we meant to her in her life!  I wanted to share this quote from a talk I was listening to recently.  The talk is called Conversion of a Catholic.  If you haven't listened to it I would recommend it!  It's a good one!  Anyways in this talk this missionary was teaching this really old woman, like late 90s or something and she recently got baptized and then got her patriarchal blessing.  She couldn't see so she couldn't read it.  So she had him read it to her, and as he was reading her blessing one part of the blessing says that this lady would have joined the church many years earlier if the missionary that was supposed to teach her actually came out on his mission.  It was a pretty cool thing to read! There are people out her prepared for you to teach and to meet!  I know I was called to the Washington Spokane Mission for a reason!  There are some people out here that I have taught or talked to and I know I was called here for them!  It's going to be the same for all of you!  Missions really do change lives! It changes your won personal life, makes you a better man, it also changes the people you serve lives as well!  These are lifelong friends you will have forever!  Don't get me wrong my mission has bee the hardest thing I have ever done!  This isn't some walk in the park!  Just be ready to go through some hardships and trials!  It will be a good thing for all of you!  The good you feel will most definitely outweigh the bad!  It's all worth it!! The last thing of advice that I have for all of you is to remember to have fun!! Life is still fun! Don't be so serious!  Be yourself!  Have fun!  I can honestly say that my mission has been a whole lot of fun! I've made a lot of friends!  It's been loads of fun!  I promise!  I'll leave you with this...don't worry so much!  Elder Bednar told us this in the MTC, he said just try your best and the Lord will do the rest!  That has been my motto!  It'll all work out!  Don't you worry you will all do great!  For those of you prepaing to serve what I can tell you is keep doing the small and simple things!  Do the "Primary Answers" go to church, read your scriptures, and say your prayers!  Something Coach Dyson would always say "Do the little things!! If you can't do the little things right what makes you think you can do the big things right?"  I think that applies to us all the time.   Do the little things!!Well that's all I got this time around.  I hope you weren't bored out of your minds!  Ya'll best not be sleeping!  haha well know I am proud of all of you and happy with the men you guys are becoming!  Keep doing good things! I'll see you all real soon!  I love this gospel so much, wouldn't nearly be the man I am today without it, and without my mission!  Know I have a testimony that God knows all of us individually and he loves us oh so much!  I know the Book of Mormon to be the Word of God and Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet!  President Nelson is truly God's called prophet today!! I know it to be true with everything in me!  I love it so much!! I love you boys so much too!  I wish I was chillin' around the fire in the mountains with you guys!  Maybe next time!  Haha love you boys!  Remember the Church is so true!  The book is in fact blue!  Jesus loves you! Don't be Dumb!  Long live the brotherhood!

Love,
Elder Logan Scott

Spokane, WA -5-Mile Prarie Ward- Week #101

I'm all Hey whats up hello People!!!
Man what a week it has been for sure!! I'm not gonna lie it was a pretty hard week. We were for sure tried and tested this week and it was a toughy!! BUT! We survived!!! YESSSSSSSS!!!!! I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me!! Philippians 4:13 if anyone was wondering! ðŸ˜‚ Nah for real though it was a miracle that we lived! I am grateful! For these hard weeks it shows that you are still learning and growing and God is still stretching you to become better! For that I am thankful and I am looking forward to a much better week this week! ðŸ˜Š Anyways I had some pretty cool stories from this week! We had our Zone Conference and boy was it good!! It was President and Sister Dymocks last one!! So crazy!! To add on it was also my last one as well!! What the joke?!!? Who knew this day would come!! "Not I" Said Elder Scott. It was pretty crazy though, at your last Zone Conference they have you go up and give your departing testimony. I remember my whole Mission people doing that, and I always thought that one day I will be up there! Then the thought comes into my head and its like "No you won't you are never going home!" ðŸ˜‚ I agreed with that one but I finally did it on Thursday and it was probably the most weird thing ever!! I never thought I would be up there giving it! I did though and it was awesome!! Such a cool experience to give the "Younger Generation" as ancient Missionaries like me would say,😂 some departing words! It was so awesome!! President and Sister Dymock did it as well and it has been such a blessing to serve around them for my whole Mission!! Even though I will get a new Mission President for 2 weeks it will be cool to see the beginning stages of the transition! The Dymocks are for sure what I needed in my life they have left a profound impact on it and I will have a special place in my heart for them! Its going to be sad to see them go, because they go home on Saturday, but at the same time I go home 2 weeks after them! We will be staying in touch! Anyways that was Zone Conference and it was awesome!! We had a funny or I think it was a pretty cool conversation with a member this week! This was with the Ryan family and something that a lot of people probably know around here, or maybe if you are really into Hockey, Brother Ryan is a Professional Hockey player! He plays in the NHL, which is so crazy! He plays for the Carolina Hurricanes! Which I guess is not that good from what he says! ðŸ˜‚ He is the first Professional Athlete that I have known personally!! Well besides Coach Dyson of course.. Anyways we were having dinner at the Ryan's and I asked him how the season went, because I was here last Summer before he left back East for the season! He gave us all a signed hat! SO COOL! Anyways he said the season was good for him personally and ok for the team. He mentioned that he was going to be a Free Agent this Summer! We were talking about where he wanted to sign and who was going to sign him and all that kind of talk! I thought it was the weirdest but coolest thing EVER!! First off I never thought in my life I would be talking Free Agency with anyone let alone the Athlete that is going to be deciding!! I thought it was the coolest thing ever!! I have gotten a signed hat and a signed puck since I have been here so the Memorabilia is being collected! If you want you can google Derek Ryan, and just know I know him personally!! Missions are soo cool cause you get to meet some pretty awesome people!! ðŸ˜‚ Anyways not a whole lot else happened this week! A lot of our lessons fell through and a lot of people flaked out. What else could you expect from a Mission right?? ðŸ˜‚ Man I'm excited to move on but I am also so sad to leave all of this behind... Its crazy that July starts this week... That freaks me out but I still got some time left and a lot left in the tank! Time to work til I drop! Miracles are coming this week I know it!! Well that is all I got for this week!! Know I am loving my Mission and still loving life!! Talk to you all next week!! Remember the book is true, and the Church could be blue I guess, its the signs of the times, always pet the dog, DBD, Love one another as Jesus Loves you, Wear sunscreen, stay in school, and eat your vegetables! LOVE YOUUUUUUU!!!

Spokane, WA -5-Mile Prarie Ward- Week #100

Visits from Elders family members in the district

Hello friends and family!!
This is going to be a really short email! I am way short on time, and you would think that at this point in my Mission you would think I am better with my time emailing!! NOPE!!! Anyways it was an awesome week! We found 2 new investigators and they both said yes to baptism!! WOOHOO!!! Their names are Alex and Ethan!! The way that we found him was we have seen Alex around and what not! He talks big game in basketball! I tell him that we are going to ball up! He talks big game and we show up and we play ball! I tell him the deal was that if I won he would have to sit down and listen and also do what we say kind of deal! But if I lost I would have had to pay him $5! DEAL! I could spare 5 bucks!! Anyways we play ball and I totally destroy this kid!! We played to 21 and I beat him 21-1!! 1 new investigator there! Then his little brother said that he wanted to be in on this deal! We play to 11 and I beat him 11-0 ! There is our 2nd new investigator!! HECK YES!! We start teaching them about the Restoration and we blew their minds!! We talked to them about how we have a Prophet on the Earth today, The Book of Mormon is literally the writings that the Golden Plates had, and also we have the same exact Priesthood that Jesus Christ held!! They loved that!! They said that it made so much sense and they wanted to learn more!! We then invited them to be baptized and they said yes!! We decided that we are going to make it a thing that we will play ball and have a lesson on Saturdays!! Its going to be so awesome!! We are going to get the Priests all up in this and they are going to fellowship like no other!! They are going to get baptized!! Its going to happen I tell you! Loads of other miracles happened but I don't have time sufficient to tell the story!! Know I am alive and I am surviving this last few weeks of this Mission! I wanted to give a shout out to the best Dad in the world!! D Scott@Large!! Father's Day just passed yesterday and I think I really do have the best Dad on the Earth!! Thanks for being the greatest example to me on how to respect my Priesthood, Respect women, and to be the best example to those around me! To also make the best time and to have fun with any situation that you are placed in!! I love you so much and I hope you had the best Father's Day ever!! You deserve the best Guy!! Love you dood!! Well that is all I got for this week! I hope you know I love my Mission and this week was awesome!! Love you all talk to you all next week!! Remember the Church is true, the book is blue, I love you all so much!! LOVE YOUUUUUUU!!!!
Love,
