Spokane Valley- 5-mile Prairie Ward-Week #59

My new favorite picture of Wogie. Posted on facebook by Janine Barker. Logan was on splits with Elder Holmes and ended up at Janine's brother's house

HEYOOOOOOO!! How is everyone doing back in the good ole state of Utah!?!?!?! Things up here in Washington aren't too new nothing too exciting!! ðŸ˜‚ I talk about miracles every week!! This week though we saw the fruits of all of our hard work this week!! It was so awesome!! When I got here though the work here has been kind of slow! We have really only have 1 investigator!! He is super solid and he is on Date for the 23rd of September!! I think I already talked about that in past emails but who cares! Its awesome! ðŸ˜‚ Besides Phil though we really have no one!! We are in the major finding stages of Missionary work right now!! Finding is honestly the hardest part! Its really my favorite part too! Because you get to talk to so many people, learn about where they came from, and how they landed in the pits of Spokane Washington!! ðŸ˜‚ Its really fun in my opinion!! Well on Saturday we found 3 solid I mean solid Potential investigators!! Their names are Fred, Jacob, and Grady!! Fred and Grady are just the normal confused with the world and really looking for the truth in life!! We gave them both a Book of Mormon and told them to read it!! It makes me pretty happy because Grady is a young father with a young family! Nothing makes me more happy than teaching a whole family!! So there is some major potential with them!! ðŸ˜Š Jacob though he was a pretty cool story! Jacob we started walking toward him on the road but he kind of looked like he wasn't alright! Then we got to him and he didn't seem to interested whatever! We kept talking and he kept saying that he feels evil around him and its just not a happy place right now! I'll be honest I felt the evil with him! It wasn't a good feeling! We asked him if we could pray with him and he accepted, we just said this prayer in the middle of the road it was probably one of the most spirit filled prayers I have ever felt! After we said amen he looked happy and whatever evil that was with him or that was present wasn't there anymore! It was so cool! We gave him a Book of Mormon while we were talking to Fred but then he ditched it when we came over to talk to him! He says he really wants to turn back to God and change his life around. He asked us how he could do that and I told him first he needs to go pick up the Book of Mormon that he ditched! He said ok and we walked with him to pick it up, then I told him to watch the Prince of Peace video (Because we gave him a pass along card of it) so to watch the video then to call or text us how he felt and what not! He said ok and that he would for sure do it!! Then I testified of our Heavenly Fathers love for him and how he truly is our Father and that he really does know us and loves us! He really loved that and he really wants that to be true!! He really opened up to us after and he told us that he was contemplating about killing himself that day, but he felt like he needed to walk around, then he ran into us and he truly believes that God sent us to him!! It was honestly one of the best Street contacts that I have ever had on my Mission!! The spirit was there and it felt and was so good!! I loved it so much!! Well other than that I had my first District Meeting as a District Leader! I see that this is going to have a lot of trial and error within this! Good thing no one expects perfection from me right?? ðŸ˜‚ It honestly was a really awesome week and its crazy to think that September starts on Friday!! AHHHHHHH Where is time going?!?!?!? Gotta make it count it goes by fast!! Well I love you all so much!! Thanks for the support every week it really means a lot!!! I love you all talk to you next week!!!!
Love,
ELDER LOGAN SCOTT :)

So happy to be back in Spokane

Hey Mom and Dad what up what up!!
This week was my first full week as a District Leader!! I held my first District Meeting on Friday and my goodness was that a little scary!! I have to say I have never liked giving trainings to people! Now I did it though and it turned out really good I think! A little scary but I did it woohoo!! Well I am about to delegate a whole lot! Thats the one thing that I learned at our New Leader Training is to not be afraid to delegate and you bet your bucket- I am not scared at all!! ðŸ˜‚ That is kind of the only thing that has happened thats a little different this week!! We found some really solid Potential investigators but I will go more into detail about that on my group email!! Thats all with me though!

Spokane Valley- 5-mile Prairie Ward-Week #58

Logan and his new companion Elder Holmgren

Guess whose back!! Back again!! Back in Spokane Ladies and Gentlemen!! LETS GO!!! I am so pumped to be back where I belong!! In the great city of Spokannibis!! You have no clue how pumped I am!! ðŸ˜‚ Ok maybe you guys have a clue because I have talked about it a lot! ANYWAYS! I am serving in the 5 Mile Prairie Ward with Elder Holmgren!! It is really an awesome ward and an awesome situation to come into!! This week was chuck full of miracles as always so lets just dive right into it!! ðŸ˜‚ This area is kind of slower though. We have 1 investigator that we are teaching! We just barely put him on Date a few days ago on Tuesday I think! His date is September 23rd and he is so super solid!! His name is Phil Mecum and he is a Mobile Mechanic!! Genius idea if you are asking me!! ðŸ˜‚ That means he comes to you if your car is broken! If you are on the side of the freeway he will come to you to fix your car!! I think its pretty awesome!! ðŸ˜‚ Anyways so I am back in a slower area! Nothing I have not dealt with before on my Mission!! I am just so excited to start working and it honestly is my favorite thing to see an area on how it was when I got there and when I leave! It is always the most rewarding thing ever!! ðŸ˜‚ Really not a ton happened this week that is worth sharing we just hit the pavement and got to work!! The Lord will feed those who show that they are hungry! We are for sure showing the Lord that we are hungry for success!! ðŸ˜‚ Hopefully he feeds us!! ðŸ˜‚ In other news we did have the eclipse today! We were at like 95% visibility on it!! It looked way cool to see the Moon go over the sun!! Good thing a member loves us so much in Ritzville that they gave Elder Yankey and I some glasses it was so cool to see it and I will forever remember where I was and what I was doing on this day!! ðŸ˜‚ Well thats all I got this week! Sorry for the shorter email I am short on time and in all seriousness I really didn't have that much to report on!! ðŸ˜‚ I love you all so much!! Talk to you all next week!! Peace Out homies!!!
love,
ELDER LOGAN SCOTT :)

A pretty cool pic Logan took of the eclipse up in Spokane

Total Eclipse watching with Elder Young

and EVERYONE else. 😂😂😂

Hey Mom and Dad!!
What up What up What up Parents!! Things have been going so good here!! I am so glad to be back in Spokane! Its been really really great!! There isn't a whole lot of working going on here! That isn't something I haven't dealt with before though! Am I right? so you know its time to change that here! The work is really going to start picking up here for sure!! ðŸ˜‚ I am excited for the new challenge ahead!! I am so pumped!! So far no new responsibilities I just have to get numbers for my District on Sundays (Which I was doing a lot before with Elder Lundberg when he was District Leader! He let me grab numbers a lot it was pretty fun!) Now its just something I have to do so I still enjoy it! ðŸ˜‚ Then I have to do some exchanges with the Elders in my District and do District Meetings and thats about it! Not too many but a lot more than what I had as JC!! One day I will go back there hopefully!! But thats all thats new with me just the same ole thats all! ðŸ˜‚ Summer is officially over!!

Logan and Elder Horne (a friend of Tyler Craig's before the mission)

And a friendly note that greeted them on a door they knocked.  Good thing it was a member's house and they liked the missionaries

Spokane Valley- 5-mile Prairie Ward-Week #57

This must be like the mission "Hall of Fame" Logan was so excited that he made the fridge this week

Well this week was pretty crazy!! Usually the last week of the Transfer is super long! Surprisingly this week went by really really fast!! 😂 We won't beat around the bush here we got our Transfer calls yesterday. I am really happy with mine! I am going back to the Promised Land of North Spokane! Which is probably thee greatest area in the whole Mission!! ðŸ˜‚ In my opinion though! People tend to think that my opinion is crazy! I love it though!! I am going to  a ward called 5-Mile Prairie in the North Spokane Zone (or Stake) from what know it is super close to my favorite area of all time in thee Shiloh Hills ward!! I am sure I am going to love it up there!!😂 There is an added twist though like always! This is the reason for the title! They decided to trust me with some leadership! They have made me a new District Leader! I was hoping that they would keep me at my beloved Junior Companion! Regardless the President Dymock is an inspired man and I will trust with what he wants me to do! Even though I do not want leadership you bet your bucket I am going to crush it!! I am about to be the best District Leader Ever!! I mean it! Its gonna happen!!! ðŸ˜‚ Anyways enough about me getting new whatevers and the transfers! This week was freaking awesome!! We went to the Temple with the Fannin's which was freaking awesome!!!

Elder Yankey, Logan, Tim and Brandi Fannin

Brandi caught the bug of wanting to do Family History work! 😂 So Funny!! When we first introduced her to it she said she didn't want to do it and that it was way too much work that she didn't want to do! Well once she started she could not stop!! ðŸ˜‚  they said that the Spirit of Elijah would come and touch your heart when you start to do family history! They didn't say that the Spirit of Elijah would come in and hit you like a truck!! ðŸ˜‚ I'm not complaining I would just like people to tell the truth! ðŸ˜‚ Anyways the reason why I shared that is because like I said we went to the Temple with them to do Baptisms for the dead! They each got to do 3 of their own family names!! Tim got baptized for Brandi's Dad, Grandpa and what not and Brandi got to do Tim's Mom, Grandma, you get the point! ðŸ˜‚ It was so cool Elder Yankey and I got to do the Witnessing and the Confirmations! It was so awesome to be around the font again in the Temple! Baptisms is really my favorite ordinance to do in the Temple and I am glad I got to do them again while I am still out on my Mission!! It was such a cool experience and such an honor to be there for them in a big moment in their lives!! Other good news that happened this week we put another one of our investigators on date!! Her name is Mariah and she is set to be baptized on September 23rd!! WOOHOO!!! To be honest I don't know if I told you all that last week because I can't remember if it was really this week or last week! They both have gone by so fast and are basically the same! ðŸ˜‚ Too bad I won't be there for it but I am so glad I was apart of this spiritual journey with her!! Ritzville and Davenport are really pumping! ðŸ˜‚ I am so sad to leave the good ole places of Davenport and Ritzville

but all good things come to an end! Onto Area #6 and Companion #15 Crazy I know! I always feel like I'm moving around!! ðŸ˜‚ I love you all so much my new address is BTW:
1818 W. Northridge Apt 103
Spokane WA, 99206

Back to the Spokane addresses!! I am so excited!! ðŸ˜‚ Love you all!! I'll talk to you all next week!! Keep being awesome!!!
Love,
ELDER LOGAN SCOTT :)

 "Sensei Yankey"

Gearing up for the eclipse on August 21st!

 Logan's new homie "BattleTank"

Wanting to see what he looked like with glasses...

Hey Hey Hey Mom and Dad whats up?!?!?
Well for me you already know Transfers have come and gone once again! I am once again leaving an area that is finally going again! Yep I am going back to the Promised Land of North Spokane!! I really love it up there I really do!! It is in the same geographical area as was Shiloh!! I am so excited!! My new companion is named Elder Holmgren! We served around eachother while I was in Shiloh and he was in my Zone! I was actually his first exchange when he came out on his mission! I have gone on a lot of exchanges with him so I know him pretty well! I am really excited to get him! He has told me a lot that he has looked up to me since he came out on his mission! It was pretty awesome for him to say that but now I got him as a new comp!! Woohoo!! There is an added twist to this though! I am becoming a new District Leader too!! Everyone has been saying that I should have had "Leadership" forever ago in my mission! That was something that I didn't want though! JC (Junior Companion) FOR LIFE!! Elder Frehner (he is the new AP I also became really good friends with him while we were down in Lewiston together) he was the one that called me to tell me that I was becoming a District Leader he said "Elder Scott. No more JC its time to step up to the plate" He said it in a joking manner of course I thought it was honestly so funny!! I am really excited though everyone thinks that come next Transfer I will be the new Zone Leader in my Zone! Because the one that we have now is going home next transfer so they think that I will be the one taking his spot! I don't know whats going to happen but I am going to do whatever I am called to do!! ðŸ˜‚ I am super excited though!! New Challenges and new things I am really pumped!!! ðŸ˜‚ Don't worry I got your package Mom! Its still up at the post office in Davenport cause we got there too late on Saturday to pick it up. We are driving up there so we can drop some things off and say goodbye to people so its all hood in the good!! ðŸ˜‚

Davenport/Ritzville, WA - Week #56

Elder Yankey took Logan's camera left him some crazy pics

HEY WHATS UP HELLO EVERYONE AND ANYONE WHO WOULD OR COULD OR MIGHT BE READING THIS!!! Wow what a way to open an email I love to make an entrance in!! I hope you all are loving the Summertime and you all are soaking up the Sun and getting that nice tan.... Or getting burned for some of you that are on this group that get burned!! ðŸ˜‚ Its so crazy to think that August has started and Summer is almost or seriously close to ending!! #SadDay!! Its all hood in the good though! I can't enjoy the water or anything or spend summer like all of you so to be honest I am really glad that summer is ending! The only thing summer has been good for is getting me more Tan! By that I mean my arms and my head! With the white shirt and tie that is all that shows! Or is even exposed to the sun!! Its whatever though!! I may have a funky tan line when I get home but I will not care!! ðŸ˜‚ Anyways on to the business of this week was soooooooo awesome!! We started it out really really good!! Starting with Monday we did the normal P-Day stuff but Elder Yankey and I decided to cut our P-Day short by 3 hours! Crazy I know like what are we thinking by doing this unrighteous act!! Well to explain ourselves we cut it short because Vance and Jerry (2 of our investigators in Davenport) wanted to play Basketball! The only day they could do it though was on Tuesday! We all know the rules that we could only do that kind of stuff on P-Days so we got permission from good ole President he gave us the ok to have an extra 3 hours on Tuesday to have P-Day!! Awesome!!! We drove up to Davenport on Tuesday to play it was a ton of fun!! It was so funny too! Vance and I were on the same team, Jerry and Elder Yankey were on the other team! Elder Yankey to be honest out hustled me to everything! He was going 110% on this first game!! It was good though by games 2 and 3 he was totally gassed out and I just wrecked him it was hilarious!! ðŸ˜‚  Anyways after playing ball for about an hour Jerry headed home and we were planning to head to Spokane to go grab something for Elder Yankey's sister! Things didn't work out that way we ended up having a 2 hour lesson with Vance talking about the Plan of Salvation!! #AWESOME!!! It was probably the deepest Plan of Salvation I have ever taught!! Doctrinally wise! We went way in depth about everything and we talked about some other really deep topics that we usually shouldn't talk about with Investigators. He was asking the questions though so we had to answer them!! To be honest I wasn't qualified to teach that lesson!! ðŸ˜‚ Luckily Elder Yankey has done some research and he knows answers to a lot of his questions!! I was learning just as much as Vance was!! It was funny!! Then he asked Elder Yankey if he has grown up in the church.. He responds with "Yeah I have" then Vance goes on to say that he can tell that he has grown up in it... WHAT?!?!? Hey Mr. Vance I have grown up in it too!!! ðŸ˜‚ I thought it was pretty funny and it ended up being the deciding factor that Elder Yankey knows a lot so thats why he assumed!! ðŸ˜‚ It was still really funny and a really good lesson!! The spirit was there and it was super clear he understood it really well so that is really good!! Then another thing that happened this week that was pretty cool is we were working in Davenport and we have this LA lady that lives in a small town that we cover. She has 9 unbaptized kids!! We go over there to talk to them and all they want to do is play Basketball with us! We used that to our advantage this time! We taught them the Gospel of Jesus Christ using Basketball!! Suckers we tricked ya into learning this time!! ðŸ˜‚ The lesson was you know those halftime shows where they give the participant a certain amount of money if they just make a layup, free throw, 3-point, and a halfcourt shot?? Well that is what we did for our lesson! We did just that in talking about the 5 points of the Gospel (Faith, Repentance, Baptism, Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the End) it was that the farther you go into the Gospel the harder it can get sometimes. Or no matter where you are at in the Gospel that could be your "Hardest Shot" so to speak! We had some of the kids just drain jump shots all day, but when it comes to the layup sometimes they hit it too hard or too soft and miss it! Sometimes the Gospel is easy sometimes its not but as long as we continue to try (because thats all God asks us to do is actually try) then we will be good!! They understood it well and they all want to come to church with us on Sunday!! WOOT WOOT #Miracle!! It was so awesome!! The blessing and miracles we can for sure see coming!! ðŸ˜‚ Another cool thing that we are pumped about is we are taking the Fannin's to the Temple on Wednesday for their first Baptisms for the Dead!! We are so pumped about that and I will update you about that next week!! This week was just awesome!! We are so looking to end this Transfer (since its the last week) strong!! We are going to work our butts off this week!! We are showing the Lord we are hungry and he will feed us!! ðŸ˜‚ I love you all so much!! Thanks for the prayers and the support you are all amazing!!! Coming up next in Logan's time in Spokane.... Am I staying or leaving? Who knows tune in next week to find out for yourself!! ðŸ˜‚ Love you all so much!! Talk to you next week!!!!
Love,
ELDER LOGAN SCOTT :)

Davenport/Ritzville, WA - Week #55

Elder Yankey and Logan
This week was nothing short of AMAZING!!!! My gosh!!! Well I am going to start out with the best news of all!! We had the Fannin's Baptism on Saturday!! Which was so awesome and so spiritual!! Elder (Jorge) Beltran (one of my companions) came back up to Ritzville to do one of the Baptisms!! Since he did go home like 2 weeks ago but it was freaking awesome to see him make it up here!!

(Elder Beltran, Logan and Elder Yankey)

We were filling up the font and Elder Yankey and I were in charge of it because our Branch Mission Leader was at work!! We wanted to make sure that this water was not cold, because cold baptisms are not too fun... So we wanted to make it warm... we made it a little too warm... Hot I should say like 180 Degrees hot!!! It was intensely hot!! Not our problem though because neither of us had to get into the water to baptize anyone!! ðŸ˜‚ It got way hot in that font room but it was way fun to do it!!!

(Notice the steam on the window of the font)

The Fannin Family Baptism (Tim, Brandi and Lily),  and younger children

The spirit there was awesome our big tough branch president even cried welcoming them into the ward!! It was so awesome!! I had the awesome opportunity to confirm Lilly on Sunday!! When Elder Yankey got to confirm Tim, and Brandi!! SO AWESOME!!!

Confirmation Day the following Sunday- Logan says they will be the "best of the best!"

That same Sunday though was a really busy one!! I got to give a talk which was really good I enjoyed the topic! It was on Elder L. Whitney Clayton's talk from the last conference titled "Whatsoever he saith unto you, Do it" It was talking about all the small and simple things we should do in our lives and how God doesn't ask us to do a lot!! I really enjoyed it!! He just asks us to do our best thats it!! I love to know it doesn't take a lot to complete his work!! He trusts a bunch of 18,19, and 20 year olds to do this work when no one on Earth would trust them watching over their kids!! I wouldn't even trust myself with such a important message!! 😂 I am honored to do it though!! I am also glad that he trusts me to do it!! ðŸ˜‚ Well anyways back to the crazy sunday we got them both interviewed to go to the Temple because we are taking a trip up to Spokane to do Baptisms with them in the Temple on the 9th so you already know we are so excited for that!! We got Tim interviewed for the Priesthood which he will be sustained next week!! WOOHOO and we got them started on finding names for the Temple!! Really busy at times they felt a little overwhelmed but they love this Gospel and they just want to go to the Temple and they will do anything to get there!! What an awesome Testimony builder for me to know they will do whatever it takes to get there!! They have changed my life and I am so grateful to be apart of their progression here!! They are just AMAZING!!! A really funny thing that happened this week a member in Davenport was getting married (Civilly) so they were doing the marriage and the reception at the Stake Center and they asked us to come to their wedding and come share the Video "Together Forever" to show why they want to make it to the Temple and why they are doing this! They also said that there would be a lot of non-Members there. It ended up being mostly members there! We basically showed a video that they have all seen!! Hey its ok it brought some people to tears and I am A ok with that!! ðŸ˜‚ Its the thought that counts he was trying to make it a great Missionary opportunity!! I dig that!! Well it got toward the end of the wedding the guy getting married (Brother Hickman is his name) he says he has a surprise! I'm sure you all know what the surprise ended up being! Yep that is all correct he decided to serenade his new bride!! He was not the best singer by any means!! It was super nice though and everyone got a good laugh from it! Like there was this one lady who couldn't even look at him because she was laughing so hard!! I was dying too I thought it was the funniest thing ever!! It did nothing but inspire me to serenade my wife at our wedding!! She might get embarrassed but we all know I do not have the best singing voice in town but I know I got no shame and I will do it!! That is the one thing I learned from that wedding!!! It was honestly a great week!! Lots of memories and I had a ton of fun!!! Well thats all I got!! ðŸ˜‚ I love you all so much!! I hope you all loved this email as much as I loved writing it!! Tune in next week for another one of Your Boy Elder Scott's great adventures in the deep unknown of Spokane!!! I love you all so much!! Stay safe and DBD!!!
Love,
ELDER LOGAN SCOTT :)
