Coeur D'Alene, ID- Week #81

Famous Totem Pole in 5-mile.  Logan finally made it there to take a picture

Hellllllllooooooooo people of Earth!! Well what can I say this week has been a crazy one!! A crazy one on all fronts!! 😂 It's been one of my favorite weeks ever on my Mission! We did a lot of good work, and we had a lot of funny stories that I can tell you all about! So with no hesitation let's get right into it! 😂 This week we found 4 New Investigators to teach!! What whaaaaaattt!! I know it was super awesome!! Believe it or not we found them all tracting pretty much... 😂 #Tractingworkssometimes so that was awesome! We have set appointments with them all this week and next week! 😃😂 I am so freaking excited!! Hard work really does pay off after all! 😂 Well we had this lesson this week one of our New Investigators Carolyn, and to be 100% honest it was thee weirdest lesson I have ever had!! We show up to this lesson thinking that she is a normal Potential Investigator, NOPE! Come to find out that her whole family is active, and that she was coming pretty actively for a while there, she even had a calling with the Boy Scouts, she also met with Missionaries in Seattle pretty regularly. 😂 The only reason why she isn't baptized is because her husband passed away recently, and that she had this really rare disease that basically just ate away her body. It has some technical/medical term that I can't remember... anyways what I'm trying to say is that she is an amputee. She wants to wait a second on going to Church, and getting baptized so she can get her Prosthetic leg. She wants to do it so that's awesome! 😃 The reason why the lesson was so weird because we wanted to teach her the Restoration, She remembers like all of It! When you ask her if she remembers this one thing she will say no, then you teach it and she is like oh yeah I remember and goes on to tell us about It! 😂 It was so weird and she wanted to get this lesson done fast and over with cause the guy that she is with (We aren't sure if they are married or not yet) does not like Mormons. He made that very clear to us when he came back inside! 😂 It was still super awesome the spirit was felt really well still and she is now On-Date for baptism on July 14th! 😂 The reason why it's so far back is because she thinks she will get her leg in the Spring. Just in case that doesn't happen though we put it in the summer! 😂 That lesson was just a testimony builder for me to know no matter how weird the lesson and how unprepared it turns out to be, the First Vision and a testimony can still bring the Spirit into a lesson so fast, it's amazing! 😃 That's Carolyn though, she is so awesome!! A really funny thing that happened this week was we were driving home and the other Elders in our District were dropping us off. Elder Speckhard has the SIM card for our phone in his phone. He forgets his phone in the car.. So that leaves us without a phone, and no connection to the outside world! 😂 We had no way of contacting them to have them come drop off our phone! I had the genius idea of practicing what we are teaching to these members here, the new referral system put out by the Church! My phone can't text or anything just emergency calls. BUT I do have an LDS Account and I type out this referral for the Shadle Park Elders telling them our phone is in their car and we need them to come drop it off! It ended up working!! 😂 FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD!! 😂 I thought it was thee funniest thing ever and I got those Missionaries hopes up with a New referral! It was too good, way too funny! I enjoyed myself! 😂 The next great item of business is that we finished Digitizing our Area Books onto our phones!!! YAY!!! #stillgetscreenheadaches #itsallworthit it's been a real trip and a half but we got it done! I am so happy! 😂 It was the coolest thing we found a new investigator 4 out of the 7 days we have to work! What a blessing we are blessed to see constant miracles from our Father in Heaven! I love this work so much. We had a really humbling thing happen to us last night. We were on the phone with our Ward Mission Leader and with Transfers coming up he wanted to tell us thank you. He tells us how much Elder Speckhard and I have changed this ward for the better, how much the ward trusts us, and the impact we have had on his own family. He told us that you might have not seen success with a baptism here. But you have had success within the ward with the members and within my own family.. He continued to tell us that the ward will always remember us and the good work we have done for them. It was so good and so humbling to hear that. I have been focused on bringing someone to the fold and getting them baptized. Little did I know I was helping out a ward change their view on Missionaries and helping Members there that were struggling, know that they are wanted and needed here. It was such great news to hear that.. I love it here so much! On that note with Transfers I am once again leaving my home in Five Mile Prairie.... 😣 I am going to the wonderful city of Coeur d'Alene. It's been the hype of the mission to go there. I am pretty excited to go and see where I am needed and what work I need to get done.. Weird thing is that this could very well be my last area on my Mission... it's probably not going to be though. We will see how this next transfer goes to decide that! 😂I am so excited to serve and do miracles! It's inspired that I am no longer needed here and I am needed elsewhere at this time! Being a Missionary is the best thing ever!! I love it so much! Well that is all I got for this week! Oh and one last thing we have a lesson scheduled with Cailin BeMiller (You have probably heard me talk about her here. Basically a dry Mormon) anyways we have a lesson scheduled with her for next Sunday!!!!!! Too bad I will not be there for that lesson!!! I am pretty bitter! 😂 I'll get over it though Elder Speckhard will baptize her hopefully! 😂 Thank you for tuning in for this segment of Elder Scott's Mission! Tune in next week to see how CDA is going! I love you all so much! Don't be Dumb! Be good and make right choices!! LOVE YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!

ELDER LOGAN SCOTT :)
Logan's 4th District he has lead.  Loved them all - said they had a great time. Logan and 2 others will be transferred this transfer though, so they are sad to go separate ways. Sister Ashton, Elder Christensen and Logan going to other zones.

Spokane Valley- 5-mile Prairie Ward-Week #80

Hey Whats up Hello people on this group email!!
This week wasn't too eventful or special. It was just another week of Elder Scott being a Missionary thats all. We still have our phones which is a good time, putting things into them still is a struggle but we are almost done with it! Woot Woot! 😂 We had Interviews with President and Sister Dymock. In my interview with President he asked me how long I was in 5 Mile before I got moved to the Valley for a quick minute there. I was so tempted to lie and say that I just got there but then I told him that I was in the middle of my 3rd Transfer there, and this is technically my 4th Transfer here. 😂 #Weallknowwhereliarsgo Anyways he told me after I told him that "Oh man expect a change then." NOOOOOOOOOOO! I don't want to leave!!! I love this ward so much!! I think they like me... They joke around with me... a lot... I take it as tough love.😂  Its going to be tough to leave. I might as well get ready for it to happen. Another really crazy thing that happened this week and I thought it was pretty cool (Well what we did was pretty cool) The sisters called us asking us to give a Sister in my District a blessing, Turns out when we got to their apartment they tell us to meet them at the Emergency Room!! It was so crazy so we rush to the Emergency Room and this Sister is not looking good at all! We were just in the Middle of the waiting room and we just bust out a blessing right there!! It was so cool! We weren't going to get anymore privacy than right there. People were looking and I would have thought that people would think we are weird but it was a super spiritual experience for me! One I will not forget as well! It was pretty freaking cool! Well yeah that was pretty cool we had a bunch of people stop us on the road for us to start teaching them! Too bad they don't live in our area and we had to pass them off to our neighboring area in our District! Its pretty sad but luckily its the same work and same Gospel everywhere!! That is all I have to report on this week! Sorry for the short lame email! It will be better and more to update on next week! Until next time see you on Elder Scott being a Missionary!! I love you all so much!! Talk to you all next week!! LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!
Love,
ELDER LOGAN SCOTT :)
PS. Sorry for no pictures... :(

Spokane Valley- 5-mile Prairie Ward-Week #79

Logan's Zone Conference. Lots of friends and familiar faces

HEEEEEEEYYYYY Everyone!!!!!

This week was really insane let me tell you!! Lots of good things happened this week as well! It was also one of the fastest weeks in my entire life!! 😂 Things are really picking up and all that cool stuff!! 😂 Here we are well the reason why a lot of this week was insane was because I got my Phone!!!!! HOLY COW!! Its really crazy!! My whole Mission people have been saying once the Washington Spokane Mission gets technology Christ will come! 😂 Well from the looks of it that time is at hand! 😂 Its for sure a lot different! Whats weird about it though is that we both have our own phone! 😓 Yep thats right we don't have to share the old crappy slide phones anymore!! 😂 The reason why I say that its crappy is because our phone (Because our sim card for our smart phone won't be activated til tomorrow so we are still using our slide phone for today! 😂) Anyways the reason why I call it crappy is because it has officially died today!! Its broken!! I mean the phone itself has physically been broken for a while! The screws for the screen never stay tight so randomly the screen will just fall off.. Weird and its scary when we are trying to text someone! 😂 This morning though when we were trying to call or talk to someone on the phone the buttons won't work and the other person can't hear us when we talk through the phone! Great timing for that! Good thing we have everything set up for tonight so we don't have to call anyone! 😂 R.I.P Slide phone... That was a pretty cool thing that happened this week! I now have constant headaches because this is the most screen time I have had in like a year and a half!! 😂 This whole week we have been digitizing our Area Book onto our Phones! Thats pretty cool! That just means that we now have everything that we need on our Phones!! WooHoo!! 😂 Its pretty awesome having it all there readily available at a moments notice! Its not too fun putting it all in though.. 😖 President has asked us to take 3 hours at least every single day to Digitize our Area Book... That part isn't too fun! 3 hours is a long time to be cooped up in the Church or in our case since our Apartment has Wifi, our apartment doing this! I would much rather be walking around outside talking to people! Its got to get done though! Time to put on the big boy pants and do it! 😂 We blowing through it though and it hasn't been that bad! We are trying to get it done as fast as we can so we can go out and test it on our real Missionary work!! 😂 Its so exciting and I am so pumped to see it further the work in this area and this Mission! To hasten the work of Salvation! Its so cool!! 😂 On Tuesday we found a New Investigator! Her name is Nani and we have been trying to meet up with her and set something up with her for at least 4 months now! We finally got in contact with her and set up a lesson for this Tuesday! YAY!!! God is a God of Miracles!! 😂 She has had a lot of family and close friends pass away as of late. You already know a good place to start for her is the Plan of Salvation! We are so excited! She has real intent and looking for the truth! Pray for her and pray for us! We had the opportunity to watch President Monson's funeral on Friday. What an awesome experience that was. That man has been there for my whole life, I have heard him at every conference for my whole life! Its going to be weird to not see or hear from him in the future. I enjoyed the talks and feelings that were shared at his funeral. The spirit was truly there. The one thing that really almost got me bawling was at the end and the organist was playing "God be with you til we meet again" Thats messed up man! Why that hymn?!?! That almost got me bawling like a little baby!! 😂 I will truly miss President Monson though. He has taught me so much! That man was really called of God and I know God chose him to be his Prophet in these last days! President Nelson is another one of my favorite speakers! I am excited for him and I am excited to see what he brings to pass! 😊 Its been really weird for me as well, on Saturday I hit 18 months on my Mission! If I was a Sister I would be done by now! 😂 What a blessing I have to serve for another 6 months! Its weird to think its that close (Because my whole time I've been in 5 Mile counts up to 6 Months....) I have so much to do as well! I love being a Missionary, I love seeing people change for the better! Its been the best thing I could ever do! Its been a hard Year and a half and now I have to deal with constant headaches from looking at a screen now... 😂 but I would not change it or do anything else with my time!! Well that is all I got for the week! I hope you have enjoyed another segment of Emails from Elder Scott (That sometimes don't make any sense! 😂) I love you all so much! I'll talk to you all next week!! DBD, I love you all!! LOVE YOUUUUUUUUU!!!

Spokane Valley- 5-mile Prairie Ward-Week #78

Together again- Look at those smiles.  Elder Lundberg and Logan

Hey whats up hello Everyone!!!

Man this week was a great week!! It was chuck full of miracles left and right! What an amazing blessing it has been to be a Missionary!! WOOT WOOT!! 😂 Anyways to start out its the New Year! YESSSS!! That means there is no more excuses for people to not meet with us! 😂 We are supposed to have so many new investigators this week and in the coming weeks if people will get back into the swing of things and meet up! We have so much potential its not even funny! We are so pumped!! 😎 I had a visit this week from a ghost from the grave! Elder (Garrett) Lundberg found his way up here and he could not come up here without paying me a visit! He did we went out to lunch and it was a good time catching up and telling eachother what has gone on since we last saw eachother! It was a super fun we haven't skipped a beat thats for sure! 😂 Anyways this week we have focused heavily on finding new people to teach! We need to strengthen our teaching pool and get some solid people to teach! Our people that we have now are pretty flakey and it is really hard to get some commitment and some progression out of these people! 😐 Its all good now this is Gods work! He wants us to go out and find those people he has prepared for us!! Challenge Accepted! 😂 Anyways needless to say we have done a lot of street contacting and tracting this week.. Our formers and potential sheets aren't doing too well so we are trying to make them better for the Missionaries that follow us! 😂 The reason for my email title though we were walking and the things that we had planned weren't working out so we just decided to walk around. I had a feeling to go down this one road and we saw a guy walking his dog! Elder Speckhard and I have this system that goes down when we see a guy with a dog! He walks over to him and asks if he could pet his dog, while I go and talk this guys ear off about the Gospel or Jesus Christ whatever comes up in this conversation! 😂 We do this and I talk to this guy his name is Devon and he starts out the conversation with "God Bless you" and shakes my hand and that was an easy segway into religion! WHAT WHAAAT! Turns out that this guy has never talked or even known who Missionaries are! Thats good we are the first he has ever met! We give this guy a crash course on the Restoration and the Book of Mormon! He loves this information! We ask him if there is a time we could come back and talk to him more about this. He asks "what time is it?" We say like 11:30 and he says back "How bout 2:30?" I respond with "TODAY?!?!" He says yes! WOW!! He wanted to learn more about it that same day cause he is just looking for the truth but doesn't know where to start looking! The lesson ended up falling through... something came up... Sad but we will be meeting with him soon! It was pretty cool that strengthened my testimony in that God prepares people for us to talk to! This guy was open and ready to listen! It was probably the coolest thing ever!! 😊 All of you Missionaries that are reading this email, ALWAYS PET THE DOG!!! We have found countless investigators from doing this! God works through Dogs!! 😂 Our Ward Council laughed at us when we told them this. They laugh cause 1. They think we are joking and they think we are hilarious... 😂 2. They know that it will work when they try it! 😂 Tracting has gone well I should say too. We have found some receptive people! Stay tuned on what happens with them! Ray and Rose are still doing good! Still on Date. Its getting harder to meet with them cause Rose just started this Schooling program that will last for the next 11 weeks! Pray for them and Pray for the other investigators I am working with! 5 Mile needs it!! 😂 Well I wanted to end with the passing of President Thomas S. Monson. I was really hit with that announcement that he passed. I can tell with with everything in me and without any doubt I know that he was called by God to lead and guide us in these last days. He was there my whole life as an Apostle and as far back as I can remember as the Prophet. I really didn't get it when President Hinckley passed away. I feel like I get it now! I will miss President Monson he was truly one of my favorite people to listen to. He always said something that meant something in my life. I know that we will not skip a beat when President Nelson comes in, this is Gods church and it will not be different with a new Prophet as the Mouth Piece. God is still God and Jesus is still our Savior. They still are the head of this church! I know that he won't lead us astray.. Well that is my testimony and I know it to be true! That was my week though! Sorry I feel like I was everywhere! 😂 Just know I love you all and I am so excited to see what Miracles happen this week!! Talk to you all later!! Don't be Dumb! Expect Miracles! LOVE YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!
Love,

Spokane Valley- 5-mile Prairie Ward-Week #77

Curfew on New Years was supposed to be indoors before dark....hard to do when you are waiting for a ride!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!
Holy cow can I tell you already that I am freaked out that its 2018!?! 😓 Before I tell you all that I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!! I hope we all stayed safe and we weren't dumb last night! 😂 ANYWAYS! First reason is because I didn't think that this year even existed until now! Second its the year that I get home! Third its actually here now!! IT really does happen to all of us! I just completed the "Dash of my Mission" (2016-2018) or my "Dead or Blackout year" 😂 I truly am so grateful for all the things I have learned this past year! 2017 has been THEE fastest year in my Life!! Its also been one of the best years of my life with a lot of growth, stretching, trials, You name it this year has had it!! I am so grateful for it though and I would not change it for anything else ever!! Anyways lots of great things happened and lots of memories! Its also weird that I have spent half of this year here in 5 Mile Prairie!! 😂 Yep thats right not quite half the year but since August is when I got here! Close enough! 😂 Anyways this week was so freaking awesome!! Even though it has felt like the longest week in my life!! I mean come on Christmas was last Monday!! It has felt like another year since Christmas happened! 😂 Anyways this week was great! Things are coming out of the wood work and we are really going to see miracles now that the New Year has come to pass! Yesterday we were teaching this family and we put the couple On Date for Baptism!! WOOHOO!!!! 😂 Their date is a little far out... ok super far out... Their date is May 26th! They have a few things to work out before they could get baptized! We don't know how long it will be so we wanted to play it safe and push it back way up there! We could always move it up! But to constantly push it back might not be the best thing for them! So cool though! Some other cool things that happened we got in contact with 2 Recent Converts that have non members in their families! Funny thing that happened finding one of them, Elder Jones and I were on exchanges and we saw this guy on a bike and Elder Jones asks me how we can stop and talk to him. I tell him I have heard that if you stick your hand out, like you are going to shake hands he will stop! As he approaches on his bike I stick my hand out and this guy slams on his breaks to stop and talk to us! YESSSSSSS!!! FAITH WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD!!! 😂 It was so cool and it turned out to be a Recent Convert I have been looking for since August!!! #ExchangesbringMiracles!!! It has been a super awesome week and I am so glad to be doing this for another year! Even though on paper I have served a 3 year mission... (2016,2017,and now 2018) I would like a refund! 😂 Just kidding I love it so much here even though Spokane is an Ok place to be I would not want to serve anywhere else and be anywhere else for this! Well thats all I got I hope you all have a super awesome start to the year!! Do your resolutions! And Don't Be Dumb!! I love you all talk to you soon!! LOVE YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
Love,
ELDER LOGAN SCOTT :)
No shortage of food for this guy on a mission!
